What is Serenity ?

Serenity is a motion picture from Universal Pictures, a science fiction adventure from the great Joss Whedon (Buffy/Angel + script doctor to Speed and Alien IV etc). Serenity is the next installment in the beleaguered Firefly series. Firefly was axed by Fox studios (in their infinite wisdom - NOT!) before it had finished its first season. It was an action, drama, comedy with a unique (as only Joss can do) view of science fiction.

A roleplaying game has been released by Margaret Weis Productions which is based upon the movie. Elements from the Firefly series are there but not advertised (eg. This is from the Episode : Janestown) as I guess the book is licensed by Universal Studios, not Fox. You will notice that no pictures grace the book from the series, this is deliberate.

Another note for anyone hoping that the show might see some form of resurrection, don't hold your breath. Fox has the rights for the show for 10 years....so 7 to go folks and the likelihood of Joss or the cast wanting to pick up where they left off is, well, unlikely. The movie has not done as well as expected (or deserved) in the box office world wide so I'm not going to get my hopes up for a sequel. Ho hum, another great show sees the axe before it even gets going...ala Now and Again (anyone remember that one?).

Anyway, that's not what this Blog is about. I am going to be running an RPG with new characters with the official Serenity RPG some time in the future (as soon as I can convince my friends that its worth giving a go - ardent d&d technophobes im afraid). Any ideas on adventure plots etc. would be greatly appreciated and shared with any who want em....see you in the verse.
